Volunteers Needed! February/March Mentoring Opportunities with STEP-UP Chattanooga

This year, YPAC has partnered with STEP-UP Chattanooga, an initiative focused on building tomorrow’s workforce today. STEP-UP Chattanooga is a program of PEF (Public Education Foundation) that connects high school students with real-world summer internships at local businesses.

As a YPAC member, there are 3 ways to get involved.

1. Host or sponsor a STEP-UP intern.

Contact Jeff Rector (jrector@pefchattanooga.org) or click here to learn more about how your company can get involved with hosting a STEP-UP intern, providing invaluable and practical experience to a local high school student.

2. Help students work on their resumes.

STEP-UP Chattanooga works with students to give them the tools they need going into their internship placements. One of these tools is assistance with their resumes, as part of a Workforce-Readiness Workshop.

We need 5 – 6 YPAC members to provide support at each of these workshops, which will be held from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. on Saturdays in February and March.

To sign up for a specific date, click here.

Please note: The signup form indicates an 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. time slot – YPAC members will ONLY be needed from 10 – 11 a.m. Also, if you are interested in volunteering more than once, please feel free to indicate multiple dates on the form! You can sign up for as many or as few dates as you would like.

3. Participate on a panel about the importance of networking.

As a part of the Workforce-Readiness Workshops, YPAC is conducting a Networking Panel from 11-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays in February and March. To sign up for a panel date, contact Tad Russell at service@ypchattanooga.org. Again, you can sign up for as many or as few dates as you would like!

We hope you will help YPAC make a difference in the community  – join us in supporting and encouraging these students!
